Doctor Who
This British Sci-Fi cult classic premiered November 23rd, 1963, and we're still asking the question. Doctor Who is a really big deal in Great Britain, and it's only now that it's gaining so much popularity in America.
Similarly to Harry Potter, Doctor Who has inspired musicians to create "Timelord rock"; music about the show and its characters.
There are lots of arguments over who is the best Doctor. However, I think that it is better to step back and love them all than to try to pick a favorite. After all, they're supposed to be playing the same person. To an extent.
Doctor Who has been known to throw words of wisdom at its audiences once in awhile. For example:
"There’s no point in being grown up if you can’t be childish sometimes."
"900 years of time and space and I've never met anyone who wasn't important."
This past year, the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special aired live across the world in 94 countries, breaking the Guinness World Record for largest simulcast of a TV drama. Guys, c'mon. You've got to admit that's pretty awesome.
What's even more amazing is that the people involved in making the show are fans of the show themselves. Peter Davison (5th), Colin Baker (6th), and Sylvester McCoy (7th), feeling snubbed by the production crew behind the 50th Anniversary for not being invited back, decided to film their own episode for the 50th called The Five(ish) Doctors, which was a wonderful companion to the official 50th Anniversary episode.
But let's talk for a bit about one of the most popular Doctors. David Tennant, the Tenth Doctor, had wanted to act and be the Doctor ever since he was in grade school, and he made it! He married Georgia Moffet, who portrayed the Doctor's daughter, Jenny, in an episode called "The Doctor's Daughter." But get this; Moffet is the daughter of Peter Davison, who played the 5th Doctor (coincidentally David's favorite). Which means that he also went on to become the son-in-law of his favorite Doctor, Peter Davison.
So if you really think about it... the Doctor's daughter played the Doctor's daughter in "The Doctor's Daughter" and then married the Doctor and had the Doctor's daughter.
... Sorry guys, I had to do it.
